Stand up for LIBERTY June 5th!  Vote for "none of the above" by choosing me as your write-in candidate for U.S. Representative, District 53.  Let's make history together!

Hello San Diego;

I'm Joel Marchese, and I'd like to be your choice, "The People's Choice" for District 53 - United States House of Representatives.  Two years ago, during the 2010 mid-term elections, citizens across this great country of ours sent hundreds of incumbent legislators packing their suitcases for home.  Voters who were "fed up" with out of touch lawmakers, decided to elect representatives who listened to their constituents, followed common sense, and who understood the meaning of "hold their feet to the fire."  Today, I'm asking you to help finish the job.  Replace an incumbent with one of your own.  Send me to do your will; and I promise to expend every effort to make San Diego proud of it's leadership once again.

Are We Getting Our Money's Worth From Congress?

16 Trillion, and counting!  That's our national debt.  It's a debt we will pass on to our children and grandchildren, unless something is done about it.  Regardless of party label, everyone should be alarmed by the downward spiral our country is currently going through.  Our government doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem!  Massive debt, soaring gas prices, and a sluggish economy have given us little hope; and, even less change (in our pockets).  Meanwhile, Congress has reached an all time low in its favorability rating, hovering around 12 percent or lower.  Are the American people getting their money's worth?  A better question might be, are we going to have any money left?

How Much Is Too Much For A Gallon of Gas?

$5 Dollar gasoline?   How about $10 gasoline.  Where does it stop?  President Obama's Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, stated In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in 2008, before becoming Energy secretary, that "Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."  From all appearances, the administration seems to be reaching that goal.  The underlying push behind this is to "wean" the United States off of fossil fuels.  Sounds great, doesn't it?  But let's be realistic.  Last time I checked, most of the people I work with still drive gas powered cars, and can simply not afford the $40,000 (base price) of the Chevy Volt!  With all this to consider, we need a domestic energy policy that reduces the price of gasoline for consumers by increasing energy production and supply right here at home.  The 21st Century will be dominated by countries who can buy, sell or access energy, both renewable and non-renewable.  This is a fact of life, not a debatable theory.  With a world in political and social turmoil, we must set as our goal the ability to be self-sustainable with regards to our energy needs.  As a candidate for the United States Congress, District 53, I pledge first and foremost to make the national debt and out of control gas prices my top priorities.  The time for meekness has passed.  We need strong leadership in Congress to take on the big spenders in both parties.  Let's be realistic; the Federal Government is out of control.  It's up to the American people to take a stand, and take action!  As your representative, I will provide tough, conservative leadership, while making sure that your voice is heard loud and clear in Washington, D.C.  Please join me in the fight to stop the big spending spree, save our Constitution, and to take back America!

Meet the Candidate

I've been a resident here in East County, San Diego since 1980.  My father Victor grew up in Logan Heights during the Great Depression.  Over the years, he shared with me many wonderful stories about the people and history of this great place, we call home.  As the youngest of four children, I became the first and only child in my family to graduate from college.  My love for American history and economics, led me to earn my bachelor's degree in social studies from San Diego State University in 1990.    Since then, I've owned a small publishing business and worked several jobs in the public sector.  Today, I'm working hard as an educator, helping young adults get a second chance in life by earning their GEDs and high school diplomas.  It's a career I love, and one I feel I've made the greatest difference.  My wife Maha is from Iraq, where Christians are still persecuted for practicing a minority faith.  We are the happy parents of one precocious, beautiful little girl, with a second baby due early this summer!  I'm running for Congress to help ensure that my children and your children, like all Americans, have a free and prosperous future, one that is not micro-managed by the Federal Government.

June 5th Primary Reminder

As a "write-in" candidate, my name will not appear on the official ballot.  However, I'll still be a registered candidate on file with the County Registrar of Voters office.  Votes for "write-in" Congressional candidates are counted as legitimate votes, the same as the other candidates on the ballot.  So, write me in!  And be as accurate as you can with the spelling of my name, so the voting intent is clear.  JOEL MARCHESE
